Early Vote to Defeat Issue 1 Has Begun

Labor’s unified campaign to defeat State Issue 1 is hitting on all cylinders as early voting begins this week.  This past Saturday, in advance of the polls opening hundreds of union members were in neighborhoods knocking on doors and in union halls writing postcards to educate working people on the harmful effects of Issue 1 and the importance of getting out to vote.

The politicians who are pushing this unprecedented power grab voted just months ago to prohibit August Special Elections due to historically low turnout and the millions of dollars it cost taxpayers. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose who championed doing away with August elections, has changed his tune and now supports Issue 1 to do away with majority rule in Ohio and spending $20 million of taxpayer funds to conduct the election.

Due to new voter ID laws in Ohio, a photo ID is required to vote in person, whether early or on Election Day, August 8. If you do not have a current photo ID,  you can vote by mail without that requirement.
