Pickerington Library Workers' Ratify Contract
Pickerington Public Library has approved a new employee contract that includes pay raises over the next three years.
This agreement makes certain that the library is able to provide high-quality library services without impacting the community through excessive financial commitments, according to a news release.
"Throughout the negotiation process, the library worked diligently to protect taxpayer interests, maintain responsible financial stewardship, and reinforce staff accountability," said in the press release. "The approved contract upholds expectations for performance and service standards, ensuring that employees remain dedicated to the library’s mission of serving the community."
The contract includes important protections that non-union employees typically lack, including “just cause” protection against unfair discipline, a binding grievance and arbitration policy to resolve disputes, a fair process for handling furloughs or layoffs, and a collaborative Labor-Management Committee that gives workers a voice in library policy.
“This agreement reflects our responsibility to both our staff and the taxpayers who support our library,” said Tony Howard, Director of Pickerington Public Library. “We have taken a thoughtful approach to ensure fair and sustainable policies while maintaining high standards of service and accountability.”
