Life Is Better In A Union

This Labor Day, on the heels of protecting our constitutional rights with the defeat of Issue 1 we are again reminded that we are “stronger together.” As we celebrate the workers’ holiday over the extended weekend, we also reflect on how “life is better” in a union.

Wages are better in a union. Workplace safety is better in a union. Healthcare benefits are better in a union. Work-life balance is better in a union.

Life is better in a union and because of this reality, public approval for unions has never been higher.

Workers coming together to form a union is on the rise in the Buckeye state and across the country. Just last year, Ohio added 52,000 new union jobs, the third biggest state increase in the country. And this trend will continue as workers under the age of 30 want a voice at work and have a remarkable 88% approval rate of unions.

Please take a moment to hear from our national AFL-CIO officers, President Elizabeth Shuler and Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond, as they reflect on Labor Day and how life is better in a union.
