John Legend Visits Cincinnati to Rally Voters to Vote No on Issue 1
The unified Labor Vote No on Issue 1 campaign is in full swing. Joining forces with the One Person, One Vote campaign union activist welcomed international music artist, and Springfield native, John Legend to Cincinnati.
The "Vote No" force that came to the rally cheered loudly as John Legend took to the podium to say he came back to Ohio lend his voice to defeat State Issue 1.
The multi-activity event began in a parking lot across from the Hamilton County Board of Elections as Legend urged Ohioans to vote now and vote No.
The Grammy Award-winning artist and actor told the crowd to spread the word about the importance of voting and not to allow politicians to steal our voice.
"They thought they could schedule this election in August so people wouldn't notice. And we're trying to make sure people notice," Legend said with his usual verve.
Legend was introduced at the rally by Melissa Cropper, President of the Ohio Federation of Teachers and Secretary-Treasurer of the Ohio AFL-CIO.
"John is a product of Springfield public schools. He worked with the AFL-CIO in 2016 to make positive change with his #FREEAMERICA project," said Cropper. "John knows the power when the labor movement and community join together. And together we will defeat Issue 1."
