Ohio AFL-CIO Hosts Annual Union Sportsmen's Alliance Dinner

Last Friday, the Ohio AFL-CIO hosted its annual Union Sportmen’s Alliance (USA) Banquet at the UA Local 189 hall in Columbus. The dinner is consistently  the highest-grossing USA dinner in the nation.

Over 500 union members and allies from across the entire state spent the evening of solidarity raising funds for conservation efforts across Ohio and the country. Since the first dinner in 2014, the USA has worked with the State Federation and local labor councils on major park and public land renovation projects in Dayton, Columbus and Ashland as well as hosted dozens of "Take Your Kids" fishing events in Marietta, Chillicothe, Dayton and elsewhere.

"The USA is a great way for trade unionists to come together to support programs that encourage land conservation, hunting, fishing and recreation in the great outdoors. To be able to enjoy a night of solidarity for a good cause while socializing with our union sisters and brothers is something we will continue to host," said Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga. "We encourage all union members to join and  become active in the USA."

The mission of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance is to unite the union community through conservation to preserve North America’s outdoor heritage. More than six million active and retired AFL-CIO union members hunt, fish or shoot. Collectively, they make up the largest constituency of sportsmen and sportswomen in North America.
